IELTS
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an academic English exam and is necessary if you wish to study or work in an English-speaking environment. IELTS is recognised by British universities, but your required score will vary depending on which university and which course you choose.
IELTS is also for students seeking professional registration and is recognised by universities and employers in countries such as the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
There are two levels of class. The Pre-IELTS class, which is four hours a week, is split into two sessions that take place on Monday and Thursday afternoons. These classes are for learners who need significant further language development before sitting the exam, and for those learners who need a band score of up to 5.5. The course’s main focus is on academic language development, combined with development of exam skills.
The other IELTS class takes place on three afternoons, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is for Higher Intermediate students who are aiming for a band score of 6 or above. This course focuses on intensive preparation in exam skills, combined with exam practice and also provides some academic language development.
For both courses, students can start on any Monday.
